Secondary School Transfer
Preparing for secondary school
We understand that while our own journey with your child concludes at the end of Year 6, a new and exciting chapter is just beginning for them. That’s why we place great emphasis on preparing pupils for the transition to secondary school: academically, socially and emotionally.
-
From Year 3, all pupils take annual CAT tests in verbal and non-verbal reasoning. These assessments help track progress and provide useful insights as children approach the Wandsworth Test in Year 6. Parents are invited to meet with senior leaders to discuss these results and how they relate to secondary school options.
-
Starting in Year 5, pupils receive discrete lessons in verbal and non-verbal reasoning.
-
Year 5 parents are invited to a Secondary Transfer Presentation, hosted in collaboration with the Deputy Head of Pupil Services for Richmond and Wandsworth.
-
From Year 5, pupils work in small groups with our specialist tutor to further develop their Maths and reasoning skills.
-
Pupils in Years 5 and 6 are invited to join our Prep Club, designed to support and extend their learning.
-
In Year 6, children can sign up for interview practice sessions with the Headteacher, helping them prepare for the more formal aspects of some school admissions processes.
- We also host an annual Secondary Transfer Fair, welcoming representatives from local state and independent secondary schools to speak with families.
We are continually strengthening our partnerships with local secondary schools, sharing best practices and creating opportunities for our pupils to engage with the wider school community, such as attending drama productions or sports coaching sessions.
